Bauhaus

The 1919–1933 German school that fused craft and industry into one doctrine: form follows function, ornament must justify itself, and good design is mass-producible.

Fig. — circle, triangle, square — Kandinsky inked the circle blue.
Example usage
Strip the dashboard to Bauhaus discipline — geometry, function, and not one decorative pixel.
Editor’s note

Bauhaus is an ethic that got remembered as a look. The school taught that craft and industry belong in one pair of hands — the lamp should be beautiful because it is buildable. Its interface descendants are everywhere: the grid, the geometric sans, the conviction that decoration owes rent. When a landing page calls itself Bauhaus and means red circles and yellow triangles, the manifesto has been mistaken for the merchandise.
